Dr. Wilson Botelho is a cardiac surgeon and an intensive care physician in São Paulo, Brazil. Before, he served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Texas Heart Institute from January 2019 to December 2019, contributing to groundbreaking research endeavors to advance the understanding and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Dr. Botelho's extensive training and expertise were cultivated through prestigious international appointments, including a clinical Fellowship in Adult Cardiac Surgery at the University of Alberta / Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute in Edmonton, Canada, from July 2016 to January 2018. During this period, he honed skills in a wide array of advanced surgical techniques, including minimally invasive heart valve surgery, coronary artery bypass grafting, and transcatheter aortic valve implantation, among others. Dr. Botelho has held various leadership positions throughout their career, including Coordinator of a Post-Op Coronary Intensive Care Unit and Chief Resident during their Cardiovascular Surgery Residency. Additionally, he has been actively involved in professional organizations, having served as vice president of the Brazilian Association for Cardiovascular Surgery Residents (ABRECCV) from 2010 to 2011. Wilson is also a passionate advocate for martial arts and self-defense education. With a first-degree black belt in Aikido, he exemplifies the principles of discipline, respect, and perseverance.
